STEP 1: Register for Grad SEAS Welcome Day!
STEP 2: Activate Your Columbia UNI (your computing account)
- Once you have activated your UNI, check your University email account.
- Then, stay up to date with deadlines and events by adding our calendar here.
The UNI and the password gives you access to both your Columbia email and Student Services Online (SSOL). The SSOL account gives you access to online course registration, student billing, and much more. Please ensure that we have your updated contact information in SSOL at all times.
STEP 3: Submit Final Transcripts
All students must submit their official final transcripts in a SEALED envelope from their universities.
Emailed, faxed, unofficial copies, non-sealed, and scanned PDFs of transcripts will not be accepted.
The final deadline for students beginning in Spring 2018 is March 16, 2018.
The final deadline for students beginning in Fall 2018 is October 6, 2018.
An academic hold will be placed on your student account if you do not submit your transcripts by the final deadline. This will prevent you from registering for the next semester.

What are the requirements for transcripts?
- Transcripts must be validated and sealed in a university envelope.
- Transcripts must have a DEGREE CONFERRAL DATE.
- Translated transcripts must be sealed by the translation services in an official envelope and include contact information for the service provider.
- You must mail or personally deliver your official final transcripts (validated and sealed in a university envelope) and the translated version (sealed in an official envelope by the translation service).
What is a DEGREE CONFERRAL DATE?
- The degree conferral date is the date of when your degree was granted.
- The degree conferral date must be clearly marked (ex: "June 20th , 2014" or "20, June 2014."
- "Completed Bachelors" or "Successfully passed final exams" ARE NOT considered a degree conferral.
What if my transcripts do not have a degree conferral date?
- If your transcripts do not have a degree conferral date, you may submit a separate official degree statement or copy of your original diploma; either document must be validated and sealed in an envelope by authorized person(s) at your institution (i.e. Deputy Registrar).

Can I drop off my transcripts to the Office of Graduate Student Affairs?
- Yes, you can drop them off at the address above. Please write your full name and UNI on the upper right corner of the envelope when you drop it off.
How do I know if my transcripts have been received?
- You will receive an email confirming when your final transcripts are processed. If you have sent final transcripts but have not received confirmation, please contact seasgradmit@columbia.edu.

Send official GRE scores from ETS to our institutional code 2111. Scores submitted with your initial application are sufficient.

STEP 5: Complete and submit the measles, mumps, and rubella immunization documentation at least 30 days before registering for classes
Students MUST record their meningococcal meningitis vaccination decision online before registering for classes.
Your vaccination documents are REQUIRED. If admitted less than 30 days before registration, your ability to register will be on hold until your MMR documentation is received and processed.

- No. Once documentation of your first MMR vaccine does is received, the Columbia Health Office will lift the hold on your registration for 28 days (the required wait period between doses).

STEP 6: Upload a photo for your University ID card
IDs must be picked up from the ID Office in 204 Kent Hall during Welcome Day and afterwards. Please note that there might be up to an hour wait for your ID.
All new incoming students must request a CU ID by submitting their CUID application here. Please make sure to read the directions on the ID Center's website.
All CU IDs must have an EP sticker. If your ID is missing an EP sticker, please request one at the front desk in 530 Mudd.

STEP 7: Academic Advising and Registration Procedures
If you are registered for courses and have decided to no longer attend Columbia Engineering YOU MUST COMPLETE THIS FORM and select Withdrawal. MAKE SURE TO CONTACT YOUR DEPARTMENT AND THE OFFICE OF GRADUATE STUDENT AFFAIRS ABOUT YOUR DECISION.

Registration Guidelines
- Students should report to their respective academic departments to review their course selection with a faculty adviser prior to registration.
- Course registration details will be communicated to you by your Department Administrators.
Course Add/Drop Deadlines FOR ALL STUDENTS
- The last day to drop a course without FINANCIAL penalty is September 14, 2018. Students are responsible for paying full tuition for any courses dropped after this date regardless if their intent is to swap a class.
- The last day to drop a course without ACADEMIC penalty is November 15, 2018.
- The last Day to change your grade to Pass/Fail is November 15, 2018.
STEP 8: Enroll in Health Insurance
All Full-Time students must have health insurance. If you have your own health insurance and would like to continue using it, you may waive the Columbia University health insurance enrollment. To waive university health insurance, please go here.
International students: To ensure that students have comparable insurance coverage, all registered full-time international students are default enrolled in the Gold level of the Plan offered by the University. A charge for the Gold level of the Columbia Plan as well as the Columbia Health fee will appear on the first student bill. More information is available here.

STEP 10: Report Outside Scholarships and External Payment
Students attending Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science are required to notify the Office of Financial Aid and Educational Financing of outside funding that they will receive. If you are receiving outside scholarship(s) other than loans, please complete this form.
STEP 11: Prepare For Your Job Search
Employers begin interviewing students for summer internships in the Spring. Prepare yourself by watching the videos below and working on your resume and cover letter before classes begin!
